The Award

The Alex Award is given to ten adult books published in the previous year that have shown specific appeal to young adults. The award is named after librarian Margaret "Alex" Edwards and is administered  by the American Library Association. Edward's pioneering efforts to bring library services to young people is outlined in her book Fair Garden and the Swarm of Beasts, published in 1969.
